Dance and Movement….Dementia support group

It is a well known fact that through Music, Touch, Movement and Rhythm , those affected by Dementia find positive benefits in areas such as communication and well-being. Dementia can be frightening for the diagnosed and for those supporting someone diagnosed so an opportunity to enjoy an activity , or enable a loved one, friend or neighbour , to enjoy a supported class is very important. We are embarking on a new venture at Neuro Drop In Centre and I am delighted that with the help of Sainsbury’s Lancaster , we are able to begin a three month trial of a weekly dance, music and movement therapy class. It is nameless at the moment but it has a beating heart and we are very grateful to Award Winning dance Teacher Mel Brierley for helping us get this off the ground. Is this a class that might help YOU or someone YOU know? If so watch this space…details of time and date tbc. If you are interested in Dementia and positive action to support those affected by it then perhaps you may want to Volunteer in a support capacity for the class?
